As most of you know, there was a brief outage that occurred early this morning. The outage was due to a switch change over by the Franklin County Public Utility District (PUD) who provides our fiber connectivity. Maintenance did not go as expected. All changes were complete by 5:15 am but at 5:24 am we lost connectivity to the Franklin/NoaNet hut. After several attempts to restore the network the Franklin County PUD decided to revert their changes back to the way they were before. After reverting back, they were still experiencing random network outages. Solid connectivity was restored after they found and replaced a faulty fiber jumper that connects the Franklin Office to the Franklin/NoaNet Hut.
They will be rescheduling this maintenance after the Holiday's and will ensure each connection not only links and pings but we will also verify errors and counters before proceeding with the next connection.
