-Verizon Strike Situation-
I want to confirm and set expectations relating to the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement between the two Unions: Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) with Verizon. Specifically, as of midnight on Sunday August 7th, the strike is official and the two Unions have decided to NOT work during negotiations.
What this means to you? Provisioning on the Verizon network will be delayed until an agreement is reached. Verizon has confirmed they will be delaying all current orders (previously established FOC dates not valid) and new orders will not be worked.
Provisioning escalations will NOT be accepted at this time, unless the order is for Public Safety, Medical, E911 or Out of Service situations. Verizon has advised us that Repair orientated tasks will be covered by non-union mgmt employees; however, the expectation is delays should be expected as well.
Again, please advise your customers that on current orders, there WILL be delays, as well as on maintenance activity. |
